SAIL HOT STRIP MILL - II is a hot strip mill located at Rourkela Steel Plant in India. It has a capacity of 3.0 MTPA and can produce hot-rolled coils with a thickness range of 1.2 mm to 25.4 mm and a width range of 900 mm to 2100 mm. The mill is highly automated, with level 2 operated AGC control, roll gap setting, mill speed, looper control, and auto position control (APC) in AGC, side guides, and loopers to ensure proper process variables all the time. The parameters for the mill include width (for> 95.4% of measured strip width) -0/ + 8 mm, thickness (for > 95.4% of measured strip thickness) ±27µ to 60µ, profile ±15µ to ±40µ, flatness 34 to 28 I-unit, finishing temperature ± 10°C, coiling temperature ± 10°C, and telescopicity 15 mm.The motor rating for each stand is 9.5 MW. The mill also has a pair cross mill with stabilizer in F1–F4, work roll shift (WRS) in F5–F7 stand, automatic gauge control(AGC) in all stands, positive roll bending in all stands, and a high-speed rolling mill.

The mill also has a multi-function gauge, flatness and width measurement system, and strip top and bottom surface inspection system.
