YP MICRO SILICA is an ultrafine silica fume powder ranging in colour from light to dark grey. It is a by-product of the silicon or ferrosilicon manufacturing process and is rich in silicon dioxide (SiO2). When incorporated into concrete, YP MICRO SILICA enhances its properties in two significant ways: Firstly, due to its pozzolanic nature, it chemically reacts with calcium hydroxide released during cement hydration. This reaction increases the formation of calcium silicate hydrate gel, substantially boosting the concrete's strength. Secondly, as an ultrafine material, YP MICRO SILICA physically fills the microscopic voids between cement particles, creating a denser concrete matrix. This enhanced density results in superior water tightness and reduced permeability.
